Hello,
I hope you're doing well.
This week, I listened to an episode of David Laroche and Caroline Receveur's podcast , and it really made me think about one of the points discussed:
When should you persevere to achieve your goals, and when should you stop to avoid being unnecessarily stubborn?
There are times when we move forward with determination, even knowing that results won't be immediate, but also times when we wonder if we're still persevering or if we're slipping into stubbornness, continuing despite our doubts.
How do we know if we're truly on the right path? When should we really persevere and when should we change direction?
Following this episode, I took a moment to reflect and define three key questions that I hope will also help you determine whether you should continue to persevere or if you're simply stubbornly resisting your own vision and essence.
The first question to ask yourself is: does what I am doing (the process, not just the end goal) resonate deeply with me?
Does this align with my values, my professional and personal vision, and what I truly want to achieve in the long term?
If you feel that what you are pursuing is not in line with who you are, it is not simply a temporary detour.
This is a sign that it might be time to reassess. When you're not aligned, perseverance often turns into stubbornness.
We persevere to move towards something. But if after several months (or years) of work, you still find yourself going around in circles, without real progress or concrete results, it may be time to change your approach.
Perseverance should not be blind. It should lead you to a tangible result.
If you don't see any progress, ask yourself this question: is this direction really bringing me closer to my goals?
Sometimes, persisting in the wrong direction makes us waste a lot of time and energy.
The last question is crucial: do I enjoy what I do?
If every day becomes a struggle, if you no longer feel satisfaction in your actions, if you constantly feel exhausted and demoralized, it may be time to review your method.
Entrepreneurship should be a path of fulfillment and learning (amidst challenges and difficulties). If this is no longer the case, it's probably because you're being stubborn, rather than persevering.
And don't forget, all roads lead to Rome . The key is to listen to your uniqueness, turn it into a strength, and find the path that suits you.
Don't get lost in a method that works for others if it doesn't resonate with you. What works for your competitor doesn't necessarily have to be your way.
Personally, these three questions allowed me to make a real selection in my own projects.
Perseverance is an essential quality, but you need to know in which direction to persevere. If you feel like you're going in circles or exhausting yourself without results, perhaps stubbornness is holding you back.
I know that many of us solopreneurs feel this tension.
Sometimes it's easy to get lost in the effort and believe that you have to sacrifice everything to succeed.
But embracing contradictions, staying true to one's essence, and adjusting one's trajectory when necessary are powerful choices.
These are the choices that allow a company to evolve sustainably and harmoniously, remaining aligned with its values while adapting to market realities.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic.
PS: Here's the YouTube episode I was talking about.
See you soon,
Aurélie
